Printer Fails to Communicate Through a Wired Print Server

When a printer has both wired and wireless network capabilities, the wireless connection may be configured as the primary print server by default. This can prevent the printer from communicating correctly through its wired network connection.

Common Symptoms

You may experience the following issues:

  • Printing fails when using the wired network connection.
  • The printer’s IP address can be successfully pinged.
  • The print server can be discovered on the network.
  • The TCP/IP address does not appear on the printer’s LCD display.
  • The printer’s web interface cannot be accessed.
  • The printer does not print a network configuration label when the test button is pressed.

How to Fix the Issue

Check the printer’s front-panel settings and make sure the wired print server is enabled as the active connection.

Check the Wired Print Server Setting

On the printer’s LCD control panel, locate:

WIRED PS CHECK?

You should see two options:

  • YES
  • NO

Change the setting to YES, then save the configuration.

Note: The Wired PS Check option may only appear when a compatible wireless network option is installed.

Check the Active Print Server Setting

If your printer does not have a Wired PS
